![]() ![]() I am ambitious to push FreeCAD to the next level, to be able to compete with mid-range commercial CAD, such as SolidWorks. In fact, I am considering to make it as a career. ![]() I consider myself as one of the most active FreeCAD developer at the moment. The Assembl圓 → Workplane and origin → Add placement menu option. The Assembl圓 workbench is a demonstration of that effort.Activate the Add placement command using one of the following:.elements, bodies, vertexes, edges, faces, origins, workplanes, and other placements from either the Tree view or the 3D view. This does not work in LinkStage, is it because LinkStage merges with a older branch Any idea if this can be fixed Oh this new LinkStage has fixed the dual monitor issue, all the panels seem to work perfectly. Then the placement is placed at the item's origin and inherits the orientation of this item's local coordinate system. In the current FreeCAD Master I use a sketch vertex (set to non-construction) as a visible indicator in the 3D outside of Sketcher. The assembly can also be selected indirectly by some item belonging to the assembly. Assembly4 is relatively simple because you don't need external constraint solvers, you use the expressions engine that is native to FreeCAD. The handles move the part parallel to one of the basic planes of the selected object's ICS pressing and holding shift while dragging limits the movement to one axis. Press Esc to fix the position and leave the tool. Assembl圓 is relatively advanced but also quite powerful. Drag the rings and handles to reposition the part. Right: A placement near the assembly origin (shown as file origin here) A2plus is an older workbench that has been around for a while. It is placed at the assembly's origin and inherits the orientation of the assembly's local coordinate system, if the Assembly object was selected directly. ![]() The Add placement command adds a Placement to an active assembly.Ī Placement object will be created inside the Parts container of the assembly tree and a related placement item will be placed in the 3D view. ![]()
